Hi everyone,
I
have been selected to serve as an international ambassador of the United States
to volunteer in South
Africa this summer with International
Student Volunteers (ISV), a U.S.-based non-profit organization. I am
seeking your sponsorship, so that I can make a difference abroad this summer.
ISV is an internationally
recognized and awarded organization that appoints university students from the
U.S., Canada, Australia and the U.K. to various countries around the world in
an effort to impact entire communities and endangered habitats in need.
I am so excited to have an
opportunity to assist others in the world, but, as you may know, international
travel can be somewhat costly. This is why I’m asking for your help. I would be
grateful if you could sponsor me in the amount of $5 per hour for my commitment to
80 hours of volunteer work in community
development, to equal a total
donation of $400.
I would genuinely appreciate, however, any financial support you might
offer.
Your donation will go toward my
program and travel costs (approx. $6,000), covering my accommodations, most
meals, project materials and support, ground transportation, and tour guidance.
While on
my community development program, I’ll learn about the socio-economic
challenges of people living in developing countries and communities, which will
strengthen my understanding of the world at large and lead me on a path of
humanitarian efforts to impact our world for years to come. Past ISV
volunteers have worked with children in orphanages and rescue centers, and
built schools, medical facilities and community gardens, among other
assignments. With your help, I will be
able to broaden my cultural and social awareness, as well as improve the
quality of life for disadvantaged families and children.
The ISV
program also has a strong educational component, and I am really looking
forward to learning about the global issues facing other countries, and how I
can help. In addition, I will be receiving academic credit at the University of
Nebraska-Lincoln for participating in the program.
Again, I would greatly
appreciate any support you can give — from a large sponsorship, to a small
donation — it will all add up. To serve as my sponsor for this volunteer
program, you can submit your donation:
- By Mail — Please make check payable to
International Students Volunteers, and send to me along with a completed
donation coupon (included with this letter).
- Online — Please visit the International
Student Volunteers website for donation instructions at http://www.isvolunteers.org/fundraising-donations.
*All
donations to ISV are tax-deductible within the limits of the law for sponsors
who file taxes in the United States.
Please
know that any support you can offer will go a long way toward changing the
lives of others, including mine!
Thank you
so much for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Jiu

Africa.
